2006 In Review: The Family

Sam was released as Bishop in June and then in July deployed to Iraq for a year. We are praying that this is his last deployment. I'm still teaching seminary and still loving it. In April our family was chosen to be the AUSA Braxton Bragg Family of the Year, the kids loved it because they were able to check out of school early and have lunch with Army Astronaut, Shane Kimbrough. WE are so very grateful for the many blessings that have been poured out upon us this year........not to say that there haven't been tough times, but we've seen the Lord's hand in all things. WE are grateful for our friends......for old friends and new friends.... the influence you have had in our lives will be felt for generations. WE are grateful for our family and for our children who have taught us some amazing lessons. WE are thankful for our country and for the service men and women who are so much a part of our daily lives. WE are thankful for the sacrifices they and their families make so that we may enjoy the freedoms that so many of us take for granted. And most importantly WE are thankful for Jesus Christ. May WE all remember to seek him as wise men of old..... Merry Christmas from our Family to Yours. May the new year be filled with love and peace.

2006 In Review: Abby

From spider bites to staph infection ..uugghhh.. Hopefully all of that is behind us. Abby started Kindergarten this fall and absolutely loves school. I miss my time with her but it is nice to go shopping and be able to look in EVERY aisle. She misses daddy alot and just doesn't understand why he has to be gone a year. She said he's been gone long enough!

2006 In Review: Jacob

Jacob is still my active little boy. He is happy to just play at the park or play with cap guns with the neighborhood boys. He is definately ALL boy. Many, many cuts and scrapes, lots of bandaids, but lots of hugs for mommy.

2006 In Review: Melissa

Melissa started taking piano lessons at the beginning of the Summer. She just finished her first book and is starting the next course.......she is doing a beautiful job and absolutely loves playing piano. She still loves reading and will stay up until the book is finished......like mother like daughter.

2006 In Review: Alexander

Alexander loves playing the saxophone. It seems like he has been talking about it for years....... He still loves playing games and misses his Delta Force 2 playing partner, Dad.

2006 In Review: Andrew

Andrew is still playing the trumpet. He's doing really well in school staying on the AB Honor Roll. He's a little sad as "the girl next door" will be moving in January. Andrew has found a love for camping, he spends all of his money on camping equipment!

2006 In Review: Shay

Shay switched schools this year to attend Massey Hill Classical High School, although he loved JROTC he wanted to challenge himself academically. He still loves skateboarding and will be starting his Eagle Scout project very soon.

2006 In Review: Kayla

It was a year of big changes for Kayla. In June she graduated from EE Smith High School in Fayetteville, North Carolina. In July she turned 18 and in November she got married! Wow! She and her husband Albert are looking for a house and planning on staying in Fayetteville, since his family is here as well.

Pajama Day

Tuesday was Pajama Day at school. Abby wore her frog pajamas, because she is in the frog class. They watched the movie, The Polar Express, and ate popcorn.......how fun.

Christmas Caroling...fa la la la la......la la la la

Abby's class went Christmas caroling on Monday. It was a beautiful day. They walked to the nearest neighborhood center and sang some Christmas songs for the parents. The neighborhood center treated them to cookies and hot chocolate!

I went to visit Jacob's classroom on Friday. They made applesauce ornaments and had a going away party for Jacob's student teacher, Mrs. Ricks.

On the Fourth Day of Christmas.....

"At the focal point of all human history, a point illuminated by a new star in the heavens revealed for just such a purpose, probably no other mortal watched--none but a poor young carpenter, a beautiful virgin mother, and silent stabled animals who had not the power to utter the sacredness they had seen. Shepherds would soon arrive and later, wisemen from the East. Later yet the memory of that night would bring Santa Claus and Frosty and Rudolph--and all would be welcome.

But first and forever there was just a little family, without toys or trees or tinsel. With a baby--that's how Christmas began.”

It is for this baby that we shout in chorus: 'Hark! the herald angels sing Glory to the newborn King! . . . Mild he lays his glory by, Born that man no more may die; Born to raise the sons of earth, Born to give them second birth' Jeffrey R. Holland
